Today marks the 1 year anniversary of losing our baby Lily. What an emotional year it has been. I think about her everyday. Losing her has been the most difficult experience of my life. I pray that God heals the wound that I feel and brings peace to my heart. We celebrated her precious life with cupcakes this evening. #LilyJoy

We are in the midst of a polar vortex and it is extremely cold outside. We are experiencing record lows and the coldest temps we have seen in 25 years. We have been stuck inside for the past 2 days since it is dangerously cold outside. We have put puzzles together, played dress-up, made airplanes out of wooden sticks, jumped on the hopscotch rug and baked 4 apple cakes. We had an ice storm this weekend. It was beautiful with the ice hanging from the trees. It was very cold (10 degrees), but the kids bundled up and played in the snow. Also, I made a big pot of potato soup and it was wonderful! #Mikayla #Logan #Landon #Malia #icestorm #snow #Mason

The kids were excited about the snow storm that hit Indiana today. They played outside most of the afternoon, which was wonderful. We have about 7 inches and it is still snowing now (as I'm writing this at 10:45 pm). I bet we will wake up with a few more inches of snow on the ground. Today was a little crazy at our house. Malia was up most of the night crying, coughing and nose dripping. Mason had a well visit at 1:00 so I took him along with Malia to get checked. Malia has an ear infection in both ears. Oh my! No wonder she was crying all night long. Logan got off the bus at 3:00. I gave him a snack and got him started with his homework. Then, I drove to pick up Landon at preschool. Mikayla watched the kids so I didn't have to take the crew with me. It was in the 20's and snowing out this afternoon. It was beautiful, but so cold. I picked up Landon and he said, "Mommy, can we go to Starbucks?" Oh sweet Landon! It was just the two of us and he wanted to spend time with me. Of course I had to take him to Starbucks. We went inside and he got a caramel cream steamer with a chocolate penguin cake pop. We sat at little table and talked for about 20 minutes. He told me all about his day at preschool. He is such a sweet little boy. I had so many things to do (pick up Malia's medicine, get a birthday gift for Logan's friend, etc), but I'm so glad that I took the time to sit down with my little 5 year old boy and connect. *The photos are a little grainy because they were taken on my phone. It was 48 degrees and sunny today. What a treat for January! When the weather is nice we all try to get outside and breathe a little fresh air. Shawn and the boys spent most of the day in the woods working on a shelter. An organized home is a happy home. We have been cleaning and getting our home in order for the coming year. Mikayla loves to organize so she has been helping me, which has been wonderful. She helped organize our pantry today! Everything has a place - soups, cereal, crackers & baking goods are all grouped together now. Mikayla and I have cleaned out my office, updated my address book, organized the toys/play clothes in the basement, put away the Christmas decorations, cleaned out several closets and organized the laundry room. I have been to Goodwill so many times that the workers know me by name. It feels good to start the new year off with an organized home. #Mikayla #organizing
